Abstract

This is the second part of a two-part paper [1] on wavelength conversion based on FWM in silicon nanowire waveguides. Wavelength converters are essential elements in advanced WDM-based optical networks. Therefore, it is essential to characterize the behavior of any new wavelength conversion technology when it is implemented in such networks. This paper presents simulation results to address the performance of silicon nanowire waveguides when used as wavelength converters in optical communication systems. The results are obtained using Optisystem 7 which is a commercial software package introduced by “Optiwave” to simulate fiber communication systems. Back
