Abstract

The health services rendered by the Nigerian healthcare environment are incompetent when measured on a global platform and this can be related to inadequate infrastructure and technology. This study explores the adoption of wireless technology (a fast-growing trend) by Nigerian healthcare professionals for medical purposes. Our underlying theories include Technology acceptance Model (TAM), Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT), Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Self-Efficacy. A survey was carried out via the administration of questionnaires to test medical practitioners’ knowledge on the use of wireless technology for healthcare purposes. Data retrieved from the survey were analyzed using SPSS 16.0.Results showed that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, compatibility; relative advantage, attitude, subjective norms and self-efficacy were all determinants of behavioral intention to use wireless technology for healthcare purposes.
