Abstract

This paper presents the design and analysis of two compact circular patch antennas. The two proposed antennas are excited through different feeding techniques. Aperture –coupled feeding technique is used for the first antenna whereas proximity coupled feeding technique is used with the second antenna. The designs of the two antennas have been executed using CST software. A comparative analysis is done for the two antennas and simulation output parameters reflection coefficient, gain, radiation patterns for both antennas are presented in this work. At a resonance frequency of 5.774GHz the proximity coupled fed antenna shows better performance than the aperture coupled fed antenna in terms of bandwidth, gain, directivity and minimum reflection coefficient. The two proposed antennas have small and compact sizes and their bandwidth satisfy the requirements for WLAN applications.
