Abstract

Reliability is the important dimension in software quality and contributes to the successful of the software project. Current trend of researches involve the application of meta-heuristics methods in the reliability prediction models in order to overcome the limitations and assumptions of traditional models, and to obtain more accurate prediction by minimal efforts or resources. This paper defines and explains the review of meta-heuristics methods that implemented in software reliability prediction. The study has selected twenty nine articles corresponding to the review objectives which are to review the trend of application of meta-heuristics methods in software reliability prediction, and also to identify the validation method and comparison methods used in the study. The results show the benefits of application of meta-heuristics methods in reliability prediction, some strengths and weaknesses of these meta-heuristics methods. This study also covers the validation methods and comparison criteria used in these articles to provide more insights to the development of meta-heuristics in software reliability prediction.
